Let’s see how we can scale the size of an object in Illustrator using the keyboard short cut.
First of all create a new Action in the Actions panel. Name it Action “Scale Up” and assign an F8-key for the Action (here it is Shift-F8 on the Mac). Recording will start automatically.

Next, navigate to the menu bar and select Object > Transform > Scale

Set the scale to Uniform and enter 200%. Click OK.

Click on Stop Recording in the Actions panel.

Repeat the step mentioned above. This time name the Action “Scale Down”, and add the Command key to the shortcut. Enter 75% as the scale percentage. Now you have in hand a useful keyboard shortcut to scale selected objects in Illustrator.
